Last year was an exciting time for the Harper School as we enjoyed our new space here at College Avenue. We found it not only to be an excellent teaching space but also a gathering place for teachers, students, and community members. It was truly a dream come true for us to be here. We are so grateful to Colelge Avenue Baptist Church for this partnership.
Many exciting activites took place here at our new and larger space that would not have been aviable to us in the past. Weaver Victoria Sowers from SAndy Creek Weavers was with us as a visiting artist. The beautiful weaveing created by students, faculty, and commuinty members was dedicated on August 27.
Summer brough a new venture with the Caldwell County Schools Wrap Around program. Over 100 students came each week to participate n Music, Motion, and More with Cindy Tate and World Music Drumming with David Abernethy. What fun it was to see these students come into our building each week.
New teachers are joining us this year. They are Dawn Grant, violin, Michael Riggs, piano, and Kim Zimmerman, cello. Classical guitarist, Bobby Steadman, has trained in Music Together and will begin teaching soon.
I am very proud of our accomplishments at the Harper School and I hope that if you are not already a student you will come and see all that we do. Through our many partnerships and generous support from hundreds of donors, students from all backgrounds can begin the magical journey of music. Come and be part of all we do.
New
Sincerely,
